Dear colleagues,
Cornelder released their volume statistics for the port of Beira in 2016. We put it into relation to data from 2015 and 2014. For technical reasons (which I do not want to bore you with) we exclude local Mozambican breakbulk exports but everything else is included. Brace yourselves! Here we go:

In summary: Exports are up and imports are down. The port handles more imports compared to exports and as a result overall volumes are down.

We can also express these numbers in truck loads and I ll do this for imports:
Breakbulk : 5,867 (rounded) truck loads less in 2016 compared to 2015
Containers : 10,714 truckloads less compared to 2015

(I ll buy a drink for the first one who correctly explains in the comment section why the number 10,714 is actually not correct).

If you don’t like numbers, here are some very pretty graphs that you may appreciate:

I will shed more light on our performance after the 2016 Board Meeting which is scheduled for early February 2016.

Enjoy your day!
Chris
